Das internationale zeitgenössische Kunstgeschehen ist seit Gründung des FLUCC im Jahr 2002 zentraler Inhalt des Kulturdampfers am Praterstern. Mit Common Rooms entsteht 2023 neben der etablierten Kubatur des Kabinetts eine weitere Kunstreihe.

Aktuelle Positionen der Medien-, Video- und Klangkunst, Fotografie, Skulptur, Installation und Performance finden im FLUCC am Praterstern einen Ort, dessen Oberfläche als wandelndes Display in den öffentlichen Raum strahlt. Seit 2023 wird das FLUCC auch vermehrt als Laboratorium für Kunstproduktion und Community Based Art genutzt. Kollaborative künstlerische Praxen von aktivistischen, ökosozialen, antikapitalistischen, antirassistischen, queeren, feministischen Ursprungs werden mit unterschiedlichen Communities und Nachbarschaften zu einer Reihe von partizipativen Kunstprojekten führen.

IN DER KUBATUR DES KABINETTS

Für das Jahresprogramm von IN DER KUBATUR DES KABINETTS 2023 hat das FLUCC Kurator:innen, Kollektive und Kollaborationen eingeladen, Projekte und partizipatorische Workshops zu »Arbeiten im Kollektiv«, »Schulen der Zukunft« und »Genossenschaften für das Gemeinwohl« zu entwickeln. Thematisiert wird die Zugänglichkeit von öffentlichem Raum, Untersuchungen urbaner Räume auf Umgebungsgeräusche werden angestellt, das Verhältnis zwischen Ökologie und kulturellem Gedächtnis wird hinterfragt, der Speicherung von Datenzentren in der DNA von Pflanzen wird nachgespürt. Aufgeworfen werden Fragen wie: Was bedeutet es, wenn Schlaf respektive Nichtschlafen als Form der Widerständigkeit und Reimagination von Dissidenz erprobt werden?
Seit 2007 läuft das Ausstellungsformat IN DER KUBATUR DES KABINETTS monatlich in verschiedenen Formationen und Kooperationen wie Office Ukraine, Wienwoche, KulturKontakt Austria, Foto Wien, Vienna Artweek, dem AIR-Programm Body Embedding oder durch Beiträge von Gastkurator:innen, Kollektiven, anderen Wiener artist-run-spaces und Kunstuniversitäten. Die Billboards an der FLUCC-Außenwand tragen als wandelndes Display künstlerische Visuals und Sounds in den Außenraum.

COMMON ROOMS

Seit 2023 wird das FLUCC vermehrt als Laboratorium für Kunstproduktion und Community-based Art genutzt. Mit der Weiterentwicklung zum Kulturzentrum und der damit verbundenen Öffnung des FLUCC für Tagesaktivitäten soll ein multifunktionaler, niederschwellig nutzbarer Raum entstehen. Kollaborative künstlerische Praxen von aktivistischen, ökosozialen, antikapitalistischen, antirassistischen, queeren, feministischen Ursprungs werden mit unterschiedlichen Communities und Nachbarschaften zu einer Reihe von partizipativen Kunstprojekten führen.

COMMON ROOMS ist der Titel der Community-based Kunstprojektreihe, welche Künstler:innen und Kollektive durch partizipative Kunstprojekte mit diversen Communities und Nachbarschaften rund um den Praterstern und darüber hinaus verbindet. Geschaffen werden soll so ein offener Raum für Ideen und Diskurse über die Verfügbarkeit von öffentlichem, urbanem Raum für kollaborative, kulturelle, multimediale Aktivitäten. Sie definieren den Begriff der Kunst neu, schaffen alternative Lernsysteme, um neue Ökonomien und Räume der Imagination zu erarbeiten. Sich fürsorgend in Beziehung zu setzen und Formen kollektiver Selbstorganisation sind Teil einer Geschichte solidarischen Handelns und eines »Gemeinschaffen«. Wie kommen wir zusammen? Welche Kollaborationen, Gemeinschaften, Interessensgruppierungen bilden wir? Wie agieren wir gemeinsam im Kollektiv im virtuellen und/oder im realen öffentlichen Raum?

The international contemporary art scene has been the central content of the Kulturdampfers am Praterstern since FLUCC was founded in 2002. With Common Rooms, another art series will be created in 2023 alongside the established cubature of the cabinet.

Current positions in media, video and sound art, photography, sculpture, installation and performance find a place in the FLUCC at Praterstern, whose surface radiates into the public space as a walking display. Since 2023, FLUCC has also been increasingly used as a laboratory for art production and community-based art. Collaborative artistic practices of activist, ecosocialist, anti-capitalist, anti-racist, queer, feminist origins will engage with diverse communities and neighborhoods to create a series of participatory art projects.

IN DER KUBATUR DES KABINETTS

For the 2023 annual program of IN DER KUBATUR DES KABINETTS, FLUCC has invited curators, collectives, and collaborations to develop projects and participatory workshops on “Working in the Collective,” “Schools of the Future,” and “Cooperatives for the Common Good.” The accessibility of public space will be addressed, investigations of urban spaces for ambient noise will be conducted, the relationship between ecology and cultural memory will be questioned, the storage of data centers in the DNA of plants will be traced. Questions are raised such as: What does it mean when sleep or non-sleep, respectively, are tested as a form of resistance and reimagination of dissidence?
Since 2007, the exhibition format KUBATUR has run monthly in various formations and collaborations such as Office Ukraine, Wienwoche, KulturKontakt Austria, Foto Wien, Vienna Artweek, the AIR program Body Embedding, or through contributions by guest curators, collectives, other Viennese artist-run spaces, and art universities. The billboards on the FLUCC’s exterior wall act as a walking display of artistic visuals and sounds in the outdoor space.

COMMON ROOMS

Since 2023, the FLUCC has been increasingly used as a laboratory for art production and community-based art. With the further development into a cultural center and the associated opening of the FLUCC for daytime activities, a multifunctional, low-threshold usable space is to be created. Collaborative artistic practices of activist, eco-social, anti-capitalist, anti-racist, queer, feminist origin will lead to a series of participatory art projects with different communities and neighborhoods.

COMMON ROOMS is the title of the community-based art project series that connects artists and collectives through participatory art projects with diverse communities and neighborhoods around Praterstern and beyond. The aim is to create an open space for ideas and discourse about the availability of public, urban space for collaborative, cultural, multimedia activities. Redefining the notion of art, they create alternative learning systems to elaborate new economies and spaces of imagination. Engaging in caring relationships and forms of collective self-organization are part of a history of solidary action and “making common.” How do we come together? What collaborations, communities, interest groupings do we form? How do we act together collectively in virtual and/or real public space?
