Helen Palmers Debütroman Pleasure Beach spielt im Jahr 1999 in der schrillen, zwielichtigen und hedonistischen Küstenstadt Blackpool in Nordengland. Zu den Klängen von 90er-Jahre-Tanzmusik und Möwen, dem Geruch von Fish and Chips und dem Geschmack von Zuckerwatte verlieben sich zwei junge Frauen innerhalb von 24 Stunden ineinander. Der Roman folgt der Struktur von James Joyce’ Ulysses und ist in mehreren Stimmen und Stilen geschrieben. Pleasure Beach wurde am 16. Juni in Blackpool erstmals veröffentlicht und tourte durch ganz Großbritannien, nun kommt es nach Wien! Kommt und feiert mit uns im FLUCC!

Helen Palmer’s debut novel Pleasure Beach is set in 1999 in the flashy, seedy, hedonistic seaside town of Blackpool in northern England. To the sounds of ’90s dance music and seagulls, the smell of fish and chips, and the taste of cotton candy, two young women fall in love within 24 hours of each other. The novel follows the structure of James Joyce’s Ulysses and is written in multiple voices and styles. Pleasure Beach was first released in Blackpool on June 16 and toured throughout the UK, now it’s coming to Vienna! Come and celebrate with us at FLUCC!
