The Expanded Garden besteht aus einer Reihe von künstlerischen Interventionen, sogenannten Mikrolaboren, die sich auf die Wechselbeziehungen zwischen kritischer Bildung, zeitgenössischer Kunstpraxis und städtischer Umweltpolitik konzentrieren. Wir nutzen performative Ansätze, um neue Räume für visuelle Reflexion und kritische Beteiligung zu erkunden.

Expanded Garden_Leopoldstadt ist ein Kunstprojekt von Irene Lucas und Christoph Euler, in dem eine Reihe von Workshops mit Jugendlichen zum Thema neue urbane Ökologien durchgeführt wird. Ein mobiles Labor auf Lastenrädern, das verschiedene Routen im Umkreis des Pratersterns zieht und in dessen Zentrum Themen wie Ernährungssouveränität, Ernährung in Verbindung mit Energieautarkie und Raumordnung stehen. In Anlehnung an das Model der 15Minuten - Stadt wollen wir auch durch Mappings eine kritisch - kollaborative Praxis der Reflexion rund um das Thema der Nahversorgung entwickeln und visualisieren. Über multimediale Prozesse, das Zeichnen in neuen Maßstäben, Solarkochen, gemeinsames Essen und kollektive Paraden sollen neue urbane Perspektiven inter-generationell erforscht werden. Das Projekt agiert aus einer inklusiven und partizipativen Kunstpraxis heraus und wird auch in Kooperation mit Künstler*innen aus den Bereichen der transmedialen Kunst, Tanzperformance und des Social Design durchgeführt.

Unser Ziel ist, Schulen mit Initiativen außerhalb des Schulgebäudes zu vernetzen und dabei die Potentiale der Kunstvermittlung im Bereich eines sozial-ökologischen Umweltbewusstseins für die Energiewende zu reflektieren und sichtbar zu machen. Das Spannende dabei ist, die komplexe Beziehung zwischen Ökosystemen und sozialem Handeln spielerisch zu visualisieren und darüber hinaus kollaborative Erzählungen zu artikulieren, die über das eigene Umfeld der Schule hinausgehen.

Die Künstler Irene Lucas und Christoph Euler entwickeln eine partizipatorische Praxis rund um das Thema Umwelt-Empowerment und verwischen dabei die Grenzen zwischen bildender Kunst, Bildung und Aktivismus. Kooperationen u.a.: art space toZOMIA, OIKOROM, Raw Matters, LaaerBergBauerInnen, eduLANDs for transitions (ERASMUS+), DanUrb, Raum für Nachhaltigkeit /Angewandte und Manifesta8. Irene Lucas ist eine Künstlerin für visuelle und soziale Praxis und fördert die Inklusion durch eine energieautarke Esskultur im öffentlichen Raum in Wien und Europa. Ihre partizipatorischen Interventionen, die sie in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Künstler Christoph Euler entwickelt, fördert eine Neukonfiguration der Bildsprache zur Stärkung der Umwelt lässt die Grenzen zwischen bildender Kunst, Aktivismus und Bildung verschwimmen. Ihre Multimedia-Arbeiten basieren auf einem kollaborativen Ansatz, um Geschichten über ortsbezogene Bildung, neue urbane Ökologien und Identität in einem transdisziplinären Prozess zu erzählen, der audiovisuelle Werkzeuge, Installationen vor Ort und Performances umfasst.

The Expanded Garden consists of a series of artistic interventions, so-called microlabs, that focus on the interrelationships between critical education, contemporary art practice and urban environmental politics. We use performative approaches to explore new spaces for visual reflection and critical participation.

Expanded Garden_Leopoldstadt is an art project by Irene Lucas and Christoph Euler, in which a series of workshops with young people on the topic of new urban ecologies will be conducted. A mobile laboratory on cargo bikes that traces various routes around the Praterstern, focusing on themes such as food sovereignty, nutrition in relation to energy self-sufficiency, and spatial planning. Following the model of the 15Minutes - City, we also want to develop and visualize a critical - collaborative practice of reflection around the topic of local supply through mappings. Through multimedia processes, drawing at new scales, solar cooking, communal eating and collective parades, new urban perspectives will be explored inter-generationally. The project operates from an inclusive and participatory art practice and will also be carried out in collaboration with artists* from the fields of transmedia art, dance performance and social design.

Our goal is to connect schools with initiatives outside the school building, reflecting and making visible the potentials of art education in the field of a social-ecological environmental awareness for the energy transition. The exciting part is to playfully visualize the complex relationship between ecosystems and social action, and furthermore to articulate collaborative narratives that go beyond the school’s own environment.

Artists Irene Lucas and Christoph Euler develop a participatory practice around environmental empowerment, blurring the lines between visual art, education, and activism. Collaborations include: art space toZOMIA, OIKOROM, Raw Matters, LaaerBergBauerInnen, eduLANDs for transitions (ERASMUS+), DanUrb, Raum für Nachhaltigkeit /Angewandte and Manifesta8. Irene Lucas is a visual and social practice artist promoting inclusion through energy self-sufficient food culture in public spaces in Vienna and Europe. Her participatory interventions, developed in collaboration with artist Christoph Euler, promote a reconfiguration of visual language to empower the environment blurs the lines between visual art, activism and education. Her multimedia works rely on a collaborative approach to tell stories about place-based education, new urban ecologies, and identity through a transdisciplinary process that includes audiovisual tools, on-site installations, and performances.

COMMON ROOMS at FLUCC

COMMON ROOMS ist der Titel der im Jahr 2023 neu initiierten Reihe ”Community based Art “, die ausgewählte Künstler:innen und Kollektive mit diversen Communities und Nachbarschaften rund um den Praterstern und darüber hinaus durch partizipative Kunstprojekte verbindet. Kollaborative künstlerische Praktiken mit dem Fokus auf intergenerative, interkulturelle und partizipative Kunstproduktion nehmen durch COMMON ROOMS im FLUCC ihren Ausgangspunkt und wirken durch gezielte künstlerische Interventionen auch auf den öffentlichen Raum in vielfältiger Weise ein.

COMMON ROOMS steht im Zeichen der Demokratisierung der Kultur und der Schaffung eines möglichst barrierefreien Zugangs zur Kunst. Partizipatorische Kunst in einem gemeinschaftlichen Rahmen, setzt auf Interaktion und Dialog und arbeitet mit dem emanzipatorischen Potenzial der Kunst für gesellschaftliche Prozesse, um soziale Teilhabe zu fördern und eine diskursoffene Gesellschaft zu stärken.

COMMON ROOMS is the title of the ”Community based Art “ series newly initiated in 2023, which connects selected artists:inside and collectives with diverse communities and neighborhoods around Praterstern and beyond through participatory art projects.Collaborative artistic practices with a focus on intergenerative, intercultural and participatory art production take their starting point through COMMON ROOMS at FLUCC and also have an impact on public space in various ways through targeted artistic interventions.

COMMON ROOMS stands under the sign of democratizing culture and creating access to art that is as barrier-free as possible. Participatory art in a community setting, relies on interaction and dialogue and works with the emancipatory potential of art for social processes to promote social participation and strengthen a discourse-open society.
